Don’t you hate it when…

People say to you, “you look exactly like…” or “I know someone who looks EXACTLY like you”.

I hate this for two reasons:

1) I have no idea what this other person looks like, and I’m not about to ask what they look like either (ie. rude or vain), and half the time they never tell you whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing. So you sit there and have to say, “well I hope that’s a good thing” with this half smile, half anguished look on your face..

2) There are resemblances, and I truly believe everyone has a twin out there, but don’t say you look EXACTLY like someone, when you know there are just mere resemblances to this person you are referring to.

Alright, I’m done. That’s all I had to say for today;)

Must You Do THAT!?!?!

Okay ladies, someone had to say something…

Exhibit A

Exhibit A

Today, for the 10th millionth time (I SWEAR!), I witnessed, yet another male…scratch himself…down there.

Now whether he was ‘adjusting’ himself (which I highly doubt), or whether he was itching something that couldn’t wait ’til he got behind a closed off area (which I often wonder too, can’t you just rub your legs together, or walk a little faster or something without really having to gravitate your hand towards your counterparts???)

ANYWAYS….MUST YOU, lure your hands towards your package to physically touch yourself, while in the presence of another woman? You saw me in front of you, didn’t you? Or what about when I’m sitting in the same room as you, and your sitting…and oh! let’s adjust! SERIOUSLY!?

What if us women just scratched ourselves everytime we felt we needed to itch down there..wouldn’t be so appealing right? Well put yourselves in our shoes!…and then you wonder why us women get so turned off sometimes!;)

5 Hunger Suppressants

hungry-womanDon’t worry, I’m not going to teach you how to starve yourself – you can visit another site for that:p

BUT, I do have VERY good news for those of you that are trying to eat your last meal by 7, but find yourself still hungry before going to bed. Or for those of you that are still hungry after breakfast or lunch. Here I have for you, tried, tested and true methods to suppress your hunger – naturally:) Let me know how it goes!

1) Apples:

Apples are a GREAT source of fibre, and studies have actually shown that you can actually eat an apple before going to bed, and it won’t turn into fat. That’s because 80% of an apple is actually digested while you sleep, yes there is sugar in an apple, but there is also TONS of fibre in an apple, like I said, which aids your body while sleeping, or even during the day if your trying to hold yourself down just before lunch or dinner.

2) Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds contain a great fatty acid that our bodies need on a regular basis. And flaxseeds have been known to make you feel fuller faster…Also, the benefits of flax seeds are numerous and include constipation relief, clearing up acne, smooth skin, they assist in building muscle and burning fat, they’re good for heart health and they might even help with depression and arthritis

You don’t need too many, just half a handful mixed with some almonds…and speaking of which..

3) Almonds

Almonds are another great source of a natural fat. Yes, they are fatty, but they are a GOOD fat. Your body requires this fat to function. Not only that, but you’ll find that a handful of almonds will hold you down for more than just an hour;)

4) Coffee

No matter what anyone tells you, coffee is actually just as good for you as it is bad for you. First off, its a natural hunger suppressant. Second, it acts as a diaretic. Third, it wakes you up! That’s all you need to know…I’m not even going to get into why it’s not good for you;)

5) And finally…WATER

Enough said.

Big Butt? Thick Thighs? Want Advice? Read on…

I Love This Woman!

I Love This Woman!

First and foremost, butt’s and thighs are beautiful…look at men, they struggle at the gym to get these two entities on a regular basis;) And just look at Alicia Keys, gorgeous, curvacious and confident!

Alright, so you got a butt, or you got some thick gams…and you want help…Well..good news, I’m here to help you:)

If you have a ‘problem’, there are a couple of things you can do to diminish it’s appearance:

1)  Start working out. If you don’t already, start running, start walking, or even the elliptical is a great workout.

2) If you’re already working out, lay off the weights and incline workouts (ie. lunges, step master, running on an incline etc), this is only making you thicker, not slimmer and leaner. (And I ONLY mean weights down below the waist, not above, so continue creating those sexy shoulders and back)

3) Include 2-3 days of running and 2-3 days of either pilates, or yoga. I promise you, you will begin to notice results in no time – take my word for it.

And finally, you can’t just go to the gym, workout, and then hope that a new and improved lower half will appear, that’s only 25% of the calculation, you have to make sure you are eating a clean, low in fat, low in sodium, low in sugar diet. If you need any ideas, or any help, just drop me a comment below, and I would be MORE than happy to help!

Good luck!

Go after what you want…

When you want something, you get up and do something about it right?Success-Quotes Well I would hope the answer to that was, “of course”..

The most successful people will tell you that when you want to succeed in life, you get up, and JUST DO IT, like Nike says.

You wake up every morning with the same mentality you went to sleep with, that you ARE going to succeed, and you WILL accomplish what is on you list of  “dreams, desires, or wishes”, even with a few bumps in the road, you will over come each obstacle and pursue your goal with that much more focus, that much more stamour and that much more willpower.

The most successful people in this world will tell you that when you want something, you don’t just wait around for it to show up at your door step. No. You go after it, you create it, you show up to life every day, greeting it with passion, guts, determination, and candour.

That’s why obstacles and “bad days” were created, to filter out the people who really want to go after their desires, and dreams from the one’s who don’t really want to work for it.

So you go girl…get out there and get it done like we know you can;)

Can long distance relationships work?

Here’s a case scenario (or two):

You meet the man of your dreams, Good Looking, Sexy, Saavvy, everything about him is mere perfection, but here’s the thing though…you met him while you were on vacay, or you met him online, or you met him through a friend at a wedding you attended half way across the country…whatever the case may be…

You two hit it off, everything fits like hand in glove…what do you do next? Do you allow yourself to pursue this relationship (on the grounds of course that he’s the pursuer;))? Or do you think, “Well, if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be”???

Here’s case scenario 2:

You two decide to pursue this long distance relationship, are there any doubts when it comes to matters of trust? Do you think he’s out meeting other women who live closer? OR does distance make the heart grow fonder, OR do you two just get annoyed because you just can’t seem to make it work?

Question being of course – Can long distance relationships work?

Let us know what you think, and for our Y n’ S women out there in long distance relationships currently, let us know, how do you make it work, or did it work?

Cheers:)

Women We Love!

Independent, Successful, Sexy, South Asian, North American Women whom we love – Whew! (And in no particular order of course!)

1)      Padma Lakshmipadma-lakshmi-picture-2

Just recently conducted an interview with Padma, and I have to say she is so incredibly down to earth, sweet, and humble, I don’t care what anyone says!

A cook at heart, writer of her own cookbooks, owns her own Jewellry line called ‘Padma’, is the host of the reality show Top Chef, is there anything that this woman doesn’t do?? Oh yes, I forgot to mention model;)

2)      Saira MohanSaira Mohan

Saira Mohan was also recently interviewed by one of the host’s that works alongside myself at the station.

Although successful for many years prior in New York City, she was launched into international fame in 2003 after Newsweek put her on the cover with the headline “The Perfect Face”. She is actively involved with product endorsements worldwide. She is married, and has a son named Romen Alexandre.  She was ranked #91 on the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2002. (Wikipedia)

3)      Frieda Pintofreida-pinto

Before starring in SlumDog Millionaire Pinto anchored the international travel show, Full Circle on Zee International Asia Pacific in English between 2006-08. Pinto was also featured in several television and print advertisements for products such as Wrigley’s Chewing Gum, Škoda, Vodafone India, Airtel, and DeBeers. Pinto modeled for four years and appeared in runway shows and magazine covers. She learned acting from The Barry John’s Acting Studio in Andheri and was trained by her mentor Barry John.  After six months of auditions, she received a call to audition for Slumdog Millionaire. As we all know, Pinto auditioned for Danny Boyle and was short-listed and finally selected to star in the incredible Oscar Winning Movie Slumdog Millionaire. (Wikipedia)

4)      Lakshmi MenonLakshmi Menon

‘Lakshmi Menon is an Indian model. Best known for her work with Givenchy, she’s not the traditional Bollywood beauty. Armed with a degree in developmental sociology and a habit of always telling the truth, Lakshmi Menon is the kind of woman who was sorely missing from your school debate team. Known around the industry for her deep stare and her pout, these trademarks eerily match her sometimes-pessimistic views.

Books like The Great Gatsby are part of a relaxing (and rare) day off, along classical music and the blues. When she’s not running four times a week to keep her high-priced 5’10” body in shape, she’ll slip on a sundress and chill at her quiet Goa hillside house.’ – askmen.com

5)      Anoushka ShankarAnoushkaShankar

I saw this beautiful woman perform live alongside her very talented father Ravi Shankar. The sounds that come out of her sitar are undescribable, you honestly have to catch her live in concert to experience first hand what I had the honor of experiencing.

Shankar began training on the sitar with her father as a child, gave a public performance at the age of thirteen, and signed her first record contract at 16.

She released her first album, Anoushka, in 1998. Later, in February 2000, Shankar became the first woman to perform at The Ramakrishna Centre in Kolkata. Both Shankar and her half-sister, Norah Jones, were nominated for Grammy awards in 2003. (Wikipedia)

6)      Norah JonesNorahJones

Norah Jones was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 30, 1979 to Sitar maestro Ravi Shankar and Sue Jones.

She once said, “My mom had this eight-album Billie Holiday set, I picked out one disc that I liked and played that over and over again.” (Wikipedia) And clearly, the rest is history. Very talented. Very gracious. You should pick up one of her albums if you ever get a chance, it’s definately worth listening to.

7)      Persis KhambattaPersis_khambatta

Khambatta began modeling at the age of 13. At age 15, Khambatta became Miss India in 1965, dressed in off-the-rack clothes she bought at the last minute.

She participated in the Miss Universe 1965 pageant, but did not achieve much success in Bollywood or other Indian movie industries, partially due to her relatively Western looks, which appeared unconventional for most Indian audiences. She later entered the world of international movies.

Khambatta became a model for companies such as Revlon. In 1975, she had small roles in Conduct Unbecoming and The Wilby Conspiracy. She went on to a brief movie career that included the role for which she is most recognized, as navigator Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek: The motion picture. (Wikipedia)

8)      Lisa RayLisa Ray

Lisa Ray was finishing high school in Canada with aspirations of majoring in Journalism at University when a celebrated fashion magazine approached her to model for them, and she ended up on the cover. This catapulted her into a state of instant celebrity. Her high-profile career got her noticed by Indian filmmakers, but she refused many offers until the offbeat _Kasoor (2000)_, which received a considerable amount of attention. Indian-Canadian director Deepa Mehta then cast her as the lead in the lighthearted romantic comedy Bollywood/Hollywood (2002), which went on to be a huge success in Canada. She subsequently moved to London to study acting and concentrate on a serious career in the performing arts. After graduating from drama school she was reunited with Deepa Mehta in the critically lauded Water (2005/I). She has since carved out a challenging variety of characterizations- everything from a farm girl to a femme fatale- which is a testament to her adaptability and desire for challenge. (IMDb)

9)      Sarah Shahisarah_shahi

Aahoo Jahansouz  also known as Sarah Shahi (born January 10, 1980) is an American actress of Spanish-Iranian descent. A former NFL Cheerleader, Shahi was named #90 on the Maxim magazine “Hot 100 of 2005” list; she moved up to #66 in 2006. Sarah is married to actor Steve Howey whom she met on the set of Reba in 2004. She has starred in The L Word and in Life. (Wikipedia)

10)   Parminder NagraParminder Nagra

Parminder Nagra, who scored with audiences and critics alike as a soccer-playing English teenager in the surprise hit film “Bend It Like Beckham,” joined the cast of “ER” as third-year medical student Neela Rasgotra in a decidedly less athletic role.

“She’s somebody who seems astute, very hardworking and keen to learn,“ said Nagra. “I’d also say that I am somebody who is hardworking and keen to learn — although I do have my lazy days!”

Nagra was born and raised in Leicester, England but her family is originally from the state of Punjab in India. She admits that she had no formal acting training but that it was something she fell in to.

“I didn’t even know if I wanted to become so involved with the business,” said Nagra. “Because it was more of a gradual thing, my parents got used to it.” – And we’re glad they did, we simply adore you Miss Nagra;)
